Wealthy Affiliate is the best example of an Affiliate Marketing training site, they specialise in a more coaching style approach that teaches you how to build a website for free. They teach you the proper way to build a quality site that gains free traffic through SEO optimisation. This then creates your own successful online business.
They include free website building and hosting in their free membership which is supported by their own SiteRubix platform. They also dual host your site so it’s always up and has built-in hack-prevention software. They even now give your free SSL secure upgrade for your sites as of January 2017. These are the types of sites we are always looking for but unfortunately, time and time again they turn out to be scams or just semi-legit.
So is Wealthy Affiliate a great affiliate marketing training site? See for yourself!
Background
Over the years I have come across quite a few companies like this and I’ve spent loads of money on them, sometimes in the hundreds and got nothing to show for it apart from an average-looking site with no traffic and not a penny coming through.
I came across Wealthy Affiliate by accident but in this case, it was the best accident I ever made. I was searching on Facebook and stumbled across an advert apparently talking about a celebrity revealing a big secret about making money quickly. Yet another get-rich-quick scheme.
Unfortunately, if you’ve read some of my posts I was at a point in my life when I badly needed to find a way to gain extra money. I was a bit desperate so my judgement was a little off and my guts were telling me it was too good to be true but my head was telling me what if it could work. Scammers target people in this state of mind. They do this by dangling the carrot of easy money and finally, a way to get the money you need.
The scam that nearly caught me was called The Brit Method. It was something I’d never seen before so there was an element of curiosity that was driving me. I have since completed a review on my site about it to warn people away from it.
While researching the Brit Method I began reading a post that asked me if I was tired of finding scams but willing to look at a real way to make a successful online business. This caught my attention. In the post, he was asking if I was dedicated enough and willing to spend the time needed to actually learn how to do it.
Breath of Fresh Air
After years of searching and finding post after post offering get-rich-quick schemes, easy ways outs and click here and ‘we will do it all for you’ schemes. I finally found a company offering me a way to teach me how to do it. I had started to consider going back to college for a while but the only way I knew I could do this would be evening classes. After all, the one thing I had learnt over the years was the internet was the best place to make money and create a business, I just still didn’t know really how.
The only things they were asking me (and it wasn’t money like everyone else) were:
- Am I motivated and determined enough to put in the hard work, because it won’t be easy?
- Am I willing to spend the time completing the training
- Do I promise to ask for help when I need it because it can be tough
No one had ever asked me that before. For the first time, this sounded like an honest approach. I’ve always known if I was ever to become financially free I would have to work hard for myself to get there.
So am I motivated, you bet I am. I am determined to succeed, always! Was this an opportunity that sounded legit, for the first time, yeah it certainly did.

At first glance
When I came to the portal page it was showing live progress happening now. At first, I will admit I was a bit sceptical that this was really the case, after seeing so many sites in the past that looked good but didn’t turn out to be real. So before I took the dive I had a good look around the portal pages and menus.

- There is no upper limit to the level of success you can achieve, it just takes a little bit of elbow grease and hard work.
The refreshing thing I did notice was there were none of the phrases I usually see:

- free to sign up and you’ll have a stream of money
- one click and we will do the rest for you
- don’t hesitate
Everything I was reading sounded great. It was just what I was looking for but I was still hesitating after getting caught up in so many scams before, I wanted to be certain. I did a few searches for reviews and all I could find was great feedback. I couldn’t find one site that was saying anything bad. It was all constructive and positive. My gut was telling me to give it a try.
Find Your Way Around
This was great, free to join and I would get the chance to sign up and get in the system and have a look around for myself. Once in it takes you through a tutorial and a navigation of the site. I could already see there was a lot going on and it might take me a while to understand it all.
The detail around the tutorial was great, Kyle (one of the Co-founders) was covering the whole site in great detail. Talking about what you have at your fingertips, Kyle and Carson have really thought this community out in great detail. There pretty much isn’t much else you would need. With each step of my journey, I have been surprised even more.
Your main navigation is focused around the Tab bar on the left side of the screen.

This is the site’s home page and from here you can see.
- Top 10 popular blogs and Training by some of the community and are shown in order of popularity of likes and feedback of usefulness.
- Your Classrooms discussions are available to you and are in sections so you can navigate around to find the topics you need.
- Notifications from all the discussions you have taken part in and posts from the members of the community you are following.
Certification
This is a smart button that takes you through the 5 levels of certification training in Wealthy Affiliate. It’s classed as a smart button because it will keep track of your progress on the training and take you back to where you left off. This comes in very handy as you will come back and forth as you progress on your site. Level 1 takes you through the basics and to the point of making your site live and building your first few pages of content.

This is great for asking questions and getting a quick response, You can also see when others ask questions so that you can help someone else. You will always have this permanently in use and is very useful.
So just keep an eye open for numbers appearing next to the Live Chat button as these are live questions people are asking and allow you to jump on and help out.

This is your free inbuilt website builder and hosting platform, it makes life so much easier. Within this menu, you have access to:
- Site Manager – This gives you access to your websites, website functions and also your site health checks.
- Site Builder – The 4-step easier setup to building your website. This takes just 30 seconds to set up your site.
- Site Domains – Find, register and manage your domains.
- Site Comment – This allows you to get comments from the community about your pages and posts.
- Site Feedback – This allows you to get feedback on your site to help support your training and site growth.
- Site Support – Technical support for your websites
There are a lot of elements that used to frustrate me in the past when setting up websites and I was amazed how much they have taken care of for you that makes it so easy. You don’t need to have any past experience.
Affiliate Boot Camp
This is where you find the training courses that teach you how to become an Affiliate of Wealthy Affiliate. There are Seven Phases to the training. In order to go through this training, you need to already have a site up and running. So you’ll need to start working through the certification courses first. Some choose to just have a niche site and not do the affiliate Boot Camp but if you do, this is where to go.

So by the time you have finished this certification, you have your site up and running already and you will be blown away by the detail of each lesson from Kyle. They also have Video Walk Through’s using step by step which anyone can follow. One this I did realise is that anyone could do this. You don’t have to have any background knowledge as Kyle talks you through every step of the way.
I did begin to realise how little I did know before I started with Wealthy Affiliate. The stuff I did know was only the drop in the ocean, no wonder my sites never kicked off the elements I wasn’t even aware of that are so much more important. Like having great content and picking the right niche and not being too broad with your niche. Then using keywords to help your ranking. All I will say is the training is awesome, can’t fault it. I’ve not found anything else out there that even comes close to the standard of training let alone the support behind you.
Once you finish the first course you will be hooked and want to learn more. The level of detail in the training is excellent. One of the key things they cover is how important it is to select the right niche. This is something I had never worked hard enough on before. I was always stumbling on what to do my site on.
What is your Niche?
Selecting a niche is very important, this is the category that you are basing your site on to drive customers to your site and build a quality site with high footfall that will generate revenue. Now it isn’t as simple as just saying Electrical Goods. As selecting Electrical Goods as your niche would be far too broad it won’t allow you to target a group of customers to create loyal customers and your site will be too varied. You would need to select a field within electrical goods. For example, you might say you are going to create a site for reviewing Laptops and Tablets. This will allow you to be very detailed in your review and it will capture the customers wanting to compare laptops and learn about them. Your site will flow and be easier to read. A great site will keep your customer reading and in turn, create traffic.
When selecting your niche, think about what are really passionate about. Think about what could you write a lot about and then try to make it read as if you were talking to someone face to face. This will give a nice relaxing read for customers and if you’re passionate about it, you will give them a lot to read about. This you can then add to as you learn more about your niche. This will then grow your site further.
the training they have available to you for something like choosing your niche is great. There also have discussion groups so you can throw ideas around and the community will then help you build on your niche. It took me 24hrs to come up with my niche and once I got started others started to flow to me. This can get you quite excited as suddenly not only do you have a few ideas for sites you know have the capability to create another site just like that. Within 30 seconds I could have another site up. Let me just ground you as they did me, don’t get carried away with the ideas just focus on getting one up and running to generate income first before you spend too much time trying to create a few and not get any of them to the quality to drive traffic and revenue. So, I have a notebook and as I am building this site I am writing down the ideas for my next one and the one after that. That is how easy it is at Wealthy Affiliate. You can create a site just like that and have all the support to teach you how to make a successful site. The tough bit is just creating enough content to capture your traffic.

They have also added a ranking system too so the ones that support the most get recognised as increasing in ranks from an algorithm within the site that detects replies, how quickly you respond, likes to comments, comments on your posts, general posts and training you make and share with the community, yep they also let you create your own training to share with the community.

My Conclusion
Do I think this is legit? Definitely, after getting involved with them myself I know for certain it’s a great opportunity. I have never been this sure of anything else before and they continuously surprise me with how great the community is for support too. They are by far the best affiliate marketing training site, I have made some great friends already within the community and they are supporting me daily with ideas and training.
It’s not a get-rich scheme or ‘click and we do it for you’, it’s a genuine way to make money. You have to be willing to put the work in and they will teach you everything you need to do it. The whole community is full of people just like ourselves, people wanting to work hard for a living for themselves to earn enough to get their time back with their families. Everyone is there to support each other, there is no other business out there that comes anywhere close to Wealthy Affiliate. It’s generally a great place to be.
If I was to ask myself has it given me a new focus? You bet it has. I haven’t been this focused for years. I had previously lost a bit of hope after coming across scam after scam. Wealthy Affiliate has re-energised me to get stuck in and take control of my life again.

Do I Recommend it?
I definitely do recommend but you need to be determined to put the work in to make your business successful. This isn’t a get-rich-quick scheme you have to be willing to learn. The tools, the free website building and hosting, the training, the community and the support are all there for you in no way you can imagine and the expertise is second to no other business out there.
